Andrew to answer your question the new building at work is very green. It has a grass roof! I will try and stop over at Waterfire tomorrow night and say hello.

I had fun last night, too. It was a little pricey, but I guess with 2 bottles of wine, apps, etc. it was pretty reasonable. Those were some delicious appetizers, too!

Hey Andrew,
Thanks again for letting me do the piece on Lobster.COM. It was a lot of fun! We'll have to think of an excuse to hang out over a Guinness again.

Anytime, Rich and Seth. I love to talk food, and growers and processors -- including the strategic and political angle. That is why I am so interested in FarmFreshRI. Rhode Island needs to build infrastructure to support our farmers. Not sure if this is true, but I hear RI is the only state in the union without a Department of Agriculture. Well, anyway, I'm off to New Rivers for dinner. Lucky me. Best to you both.

Hey Andrew. I loved how you were portrayed in Andrea's Rock Lobster piece. My brother and I were exporting specialty foods, mainly to Northeast Asia, in the late 80s. We had one client in Italy who bought containers of live lobster from us for sale to restaurants - quite a challenge!

In terms of developing links to the local economies, perhaps Seth and I could meet and brainstorm with you at some point? We want to use this as a tool to strengthen what is already a fundamental strength about Rhode Island - food culture. I have some ideas and would love to hear others.

All the photos on the front page are from members of ProvidencePalate. I have selected the food related photos to feature. Feel free to post photos, videos, blog posts or to start a forum. I agree with you about reinforcing the connection between food and our local economies. I have reached out to the SlowFood.org folks and the folks at FarmFreshRI. It would be great to start an expansive dialog. Thanks for your input. I am a bit crazy with a new baby but I would love to meet for coffee in the near future.

Hey, thanks, Seth.

I really like what you are doing with Providence Palate.
Seems to me this social network has the potential to attract and engage a devoted membership. Especially so, if a strong enough connection is drawn between food and our local economies.

Best wishes,

Andrew

Our goal was not to create another place for people to get hit with a one way information flow, but to start a dynamic, group conversation about food culture in Rhode island by all who are passionate about it. Bon Appetite
